Epistaxis (Nosebleed)

Nosebleeds can often be treated in A&E with silver nitrate or packs. If that does not stop the bleeding, an operation may be necessary.

Anaesthesia Sedation
Anaesthesia II General +/- Gas Induction
Pain mild (+)
Post-op Pain II Tablets
Hospital Stay Day Surgery (a few hours) to overnight stay
Full Recovery 1 to 2 weeks
Additional Info Nosebleed may recur and you may need to return to hospital / more common in patients on blood thinning medication and in people with genetic suceptibility to bleeding
