It can vary considerably, and it depends on:

• Surgical technique
• Experience and skills of the surgeon
• Individual patient anatomy & build
• Underlying pathology and disease (e.g. tumour size, other structures affected)
• On the patient’s medical conditions (e.g. clotting disorders, patient is unwell)
• Complications during an operation (e.g. bleeding, contamination, trauma)
• Anaesthetics technique
