central venous catheter is a long, thin, flexible tube used to give medicines, fluids, nutrients, or blood products over a longer period of time, usually several days up to a few weeks. A catheter is inserted either in the neck or under the clavicle and less frequently in the groin, usually under ultrasound guidance. The catheter often has 3-5 different channels for different drugs. It can be used for drugs and fluids during an operation or for drugs and nutrition after a larger operation, and also for Dialysis.
Procedure where a flexible thin tube (fibreoptic scope) is inserted into the large bowel from the back passage. A biopsy may be taken and sent to the lab for microscopical assessment. It is used for investigation purposes to find ulcers, polyps, tumours, inflamed areas or bleeding.

It is threated into the vein until its tip sits in a vein at the level of the uppr arm or shoulder area. It can be used for iv-fluids and certain medications (such as antibiotics) for several weeks. It is not suitable for chemotherapy or iv-feeding.
