Small cuts to the bladder neck and prostate with an instrument that is inserted into the penis and along the urethra (water pipe). This operation is usually performed for men having difficulty passing urine due to an obstruction from a tight bladder neck or enlarged prostate.
Removal of the bladder + urine diversion (ileal conduit) or bladder reconstruction
Repair / Restoration of a proximal opening of the urethra to the tip of the penis
Fragmentation / Destroying of kidney stones with ultrasound (extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy)
Removal of kidney stones through a skin incision
Removal of a kidney (with key hole surgery)
(e.g. for a tumour, large cyst or live donation of a kidney)
Telescopic inspection of the urethra and bladder with incision of a stricture (narrowing caused by scar tissue) using a visual knife or laser fibre
