A tablet is a small solid unit of medication that is taken by mouth, swallowed and absorbed in the stomach or gut.
Tablets can be produced as small round or oval shaped solid units. Capsules are also available and contain medication as powder or small granules.
If patient are unable to swallow a solid tablets, medication can also be given as syrup.
Tablets can be used as pain killers, anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, anti-arrhythmics, ant-acids, sleeping pill, contraceptive pill and many other indications.
